Our mission

Addiction is a disease. Treatment should not be a privilege.

Race Towards Recovery exists because too many people are ready for help on a day when help isn't affordable — and that day passes.

Our Mission

At Race Towards Recovery, we believe that recovery should never be out of reach because of financial hardship, stigma, or a lack of support. Our mission is to remove barriers to treatment by connecting individuals struggling with addiction to life-saving recovery resources, treatment scholarships, and compassionate community support.

We are here to ensure that anyone battling addiction who needs help has access to the resources necessary to begin their recovery journey. Through our program, we provide up to 30 days of addiction treatment and 90 days of housing and aftercare support, giving individuals the opportunity to build a strong foundation for lasting recovery.

Beyond Treatment

Our commitment extends beyond treatment. We strive to restore hope, rebuild families, and empower individuals to create lasting change through evidence-based care, mentorship, education, and community partnerships. Every person deserves the opportunity to reclaim their life with dignity, purpose, and the support needed to thrive.

Our Founder

Race Towards Recovery was founded by Chelzzz, a long-term recovery advocate whose personal journey fuels the organization's mission. Chelzzz is the recipient of Atlanta's Remarkable Woman of the Year award, presented by Olay, The CW Network, and NewsNation, and is the Amazon bestselling author of a book about addiction and codependency. Her story has inspired countless individuals and sparked a movement that has grown into Race Towards Recovery — a nonprofit dedicated to helping anyone in need find hope, healing, and a path forward.

Our Vision

A country where every person struggling with addiction has access to treatment and aftercare — regardless of income, insurance, or zip code.

Why Treatment Access Matters

Willingness to get help is often a narrow window. When someone finally says yes and then hits a wall — no bed, no insurance, no transportation, a waitlist — that window can close. Removing the financial and logistical barriers in those first 72 hours is one of the highest-leverage things a community can do.

Community Impact

Together with our partners, donors, volunteers, and community, we are committed to ensuring that no one has to face addiction alone. Every person we help into recovery relieves a whole network of people around them.
